I'm looking for the best tool to analyze the number of words in a website, and also a tool for translating a website. We have a large website for translation from English to Hebrew
Thanks!

Smartling, Phrase & other TMSs Jan 19

Those are the tools that should be used for localizing large websites, at least for consistency. They include word count, fuzzies and at least Smartling also live previews of the localized content.
You'll find similar recent threads on this topic in the forums.

If someone had uploaded the pages to the web space provider's servers, somewhere there are also the original files.
For a large website I would recommend using a TMS (translation management system) like Smartling or Phrase, as you also need to localize the UI, not just the content.

Don't expect a do-it-all tool Jan 19

My workflow:

- Download the website to my PC using HTTrack or WebCopy
- Analyse the downloaded content using Studio or memoQ (or similar)
- Send an offer to the customer, clearly warning him/her/it that it refers to a "snapshot" of the website at such and such moment.

If the customer approves my quote:

- Receive the files to translate from him/her/it (this is very important)
- Analyse them again with my favourite CAT tool

This is an approach for small static websites and would not help localising the UI, which is very sensitive.
There are two links to related information in a post of mine in this thread which has still to be vetted by ProZ's staff (today malfunctioning of their website has reached a seldom degree).
