I’m a freelancer, so it depends on the work I have. During my “golden years” as a translator, I used to work for a couple of weeks or more without a day off, and then take one or two days off and start working again. Lately things have changed and my days off are “forced” by the lack of work (I’m just saying, I’m not complaining). | | | | Oscar Núñez Alfaro Коста Рика Local time: 22:44 Member (Oct 2026) English to Spanish + ... | It varies a lot! | Jun 17, 2025 |
I can give classes 2–3 days; then I work on my computer planning, writing, or translating; and I could finish my Weekends teaching my niece some English and Spanish. I am busy during the week, but I just work some hours during the day. | | | | |

It really depends on how busy I am—my days off usually go up or down with my workload. That said, even when things get hectic, I try to take at least one day off a week to relax or spend time with friends and family. | | | | Baran Keki Түркия Local time: 07:44 Member English to Turkish | What does that mean? | Jun 18, 2025 |

Does this mean, if one of your old clients offers you work you refuse it outright or you don't actively seek clients or work? If you were working with agencies in the past, you'd surely receive job offers on a daily basis. In that case, retirement would mean not checking any of your emails. Picking and choosing work might defeat the purpose. | | | | | It means what it says! | Jun 18, 2025 |

I never worked for agencies, so I see no offers 'on a daily basis'.
Email filters take care of anything still arriving from the Proz job system, so there's nothing to check.
Believe me, Baran - I take retirement very seriously

...but usually 3 days off, depending on how fast I get along with fulfilling my weekly schedule and provided I reach my 38 hours per week with 10 hours per day. Leaves me enough days per week to gather fire wood in the forests. | | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: In general, how many days off do you have a week? | Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
