Community ball
A community ball is a useful tool for communicating with children.
Community ball has three rules:

【Rule 1】 The person holding the ball speaks!
It becomes easy to identify who is talking. One just has to listen in the direction of the community ball.

【Rule 2】 Anyone with the ball can pass on talking at any time!
In classes that are still not used to p4c approach, the student is handed the ball, but sometimes becomes confused because he or she doesn’t know what to talk about and becomes silent. What we must treasure is that one can speak only when feeling safe. If a person who got a community ball does not feel comfortable speaking, they can pass the ball to someone else anytime!

【Rule 3】 The person who has the ball chooses the next speaker!
When you finish talking, give the ball to the person whose opinion you want to hear. Of course, you can pass a ball to whoever raises a hand! The most important thing is that these rules are there for intellectual safety. It is not intended to force children to speak. If children are to follow this rule, it is important to explain that these rules are there so they can talk successfully.
