I doubt that there will be any make-or-break effects. Translations will still be needed, and UK-based translators will be able to supply them. The changes in exchange rates will cause problems, mind you, but that happens for other reasons too.
A far bigger worry is the ability of EU citizen translators based in the UK to eemain there, with their families etc. And for British translators based in the UK to do business and lead their lives as before. Of course, neither population was ... See more

A far bigger worry is the ability of EU citizen translators based in the UK to eemain there, with their families etc. And for British translators based in the UK to do business and lead their lives as before. Of course, neither population was asked for their opinion (in the case of Brits who have been out for more than 15 years).

As a legal translator based in the EU I expect additional business, as companies will have to amend their rules and regulations to the new situation. I hope it will be similar to the implementation of the GDPR earlier this year: Lots of extra business.
