A company, named TaskTelent (https://www.tasktalent.org/), assigned a job with two files for En -> Zh-TW translation. The contact is Kathrin Walter with the Email address of [email protected]. The agreed charge is £8500 in total, in which £4250 will be paied at first once the first half portion is delivered. After the delivery of... See more A company, named TaskTelent (https://www.tasktalent.org/), assigned a job with two files for En -> Zh-TW translation. The contact is Kathrin Walter with the Email address of [email protected]. The agreed charge is £8500 in total, in which £4250 will be paied at first once the first half portion is delivered. After the delivery of the first half portion, Kathrin conducts the payment very quickly (in one day). However, there is no notification of receipt of that money after one week. Then Kathrin mails to me and asks the condition of receipt of money, followed by providing me a link to MutualTrust
Credit Union (https://mutualtrustcreditunion.com/) and asking me to contacting MutualTrust for receiving money by myself. However, MutualTrust suspiciously asks me to pay £254 as a refundable fee for security check. I refused and then asked Kathrin to solve this issue or send me £254 for such a "security check" in a "refundable" way (I will return £254). However, Kathrin resued all of the solutions and insists on asking me to provide £254 at first. Obviously, this is a fraud.

In addition email file got melicious code in it.

Thanks to this topic, I've confirmed it is a scam. They want me to translate a movie script (and they even didn't get the movie name right: the file is named "Flight", but the movie name is "Flightplan", haha).

Got email from 'Pamela' at 'ondemandfreelance.com' requesting translation of a 22.000-word script. She sent me the file and requested 40% of script translated within 4 days. Said payment would be wire transfer.
I checked the domain name - this website was set up on August 24, 2024. Two weeks before I got the email.
Ofered 0,24 GBP per word. Really? 5000 GBP for a movie script?!

She said I would receive a contract, but I didn’t. Today I was supposed to send her the 40% of script translated, but I emailed her asking some questions and never received an answer. So I searched about her on google and here, and found these same experiences.

This scam has been going on for over a month now and I wonder why Proz doesn't take any action regarding this scammers spamming translators via TM-Town?
Of course these forums are moderated and they won't post this comment. Why don't they spend their energy to preventing the scams via their platform instead of censoring the moderated forums?
