Is there a different ProZ fee for professionals in certain countries? Thread poster: Iulia Dromereschi

Hello. I am a freelance translator based in Romania. A while ago, when I had a paid membership, there were certain deductions applied for professionals based in South Eastern Europe. Does this still apply?

I don't think so, no. I know that some CAT tool vendors have a cheaper rate for third-world countries, but I'm not under the impression that ProZ.com has such a discount. I don't recall having paid a discounted rate when I still lived in a third-world country. Sarper Aman wrote: Hi, there's for Turkey ... Interesting. What are the discounts for Turkish residents?

AFAIK Proz allows members from certain countries to pay in the local currency, but I don’t think there’s a deduction…

Why not raise a support ticket and ask the ProZ staff? Surely, they must be the go-to people for membership-related questions, wouldn't you say? Even more so considering that you used to be a paying member, and you (and they) know how much you were paying back then. And who knows, there might be some leeway for negotiation.

This is how I got here ^^ I asked them via chat, and they suggested I open a discussion here, so I did.

Thank you for this. Nothing about paying in my currency or any deduction, besides the current discount/ special offer. But thanks for suggesting it!
I just realized this year. My friend has been paying more than half the amount I have been paying. From Kenya. In Ksh.

Now, why would they do that, since we are mere users/paying members, not ProZ management? This really makes no sense at all. If I were you, rather than the chat, I'd raise a support request and get somebody from Member Services to help you out.

I couldn't quote it Samuel. It's around $40, one year standard package. Almost %50 discount.
