Bilingual export excluding locked segments Thread poster: Charlie Bavington

I'm using memoQ version 9.something. Desktop, none of this cloud nonsense
You know how in the Bilingual export wizard, if you select the "Table RTF" option, you can opt to exclude locked segments (technically, deselect "include locked segments", of course)?
Is there some way to achieve the same effect, i.e. exclude locked segments, if you use the "Trados doc/rtf" option?

I had some notion from way back that you could use the "Advanced filters" within the translation tab (options 8 and 9 can be used to filter locked and unlocked) it would then only export the segments that were actually displayed, but that doesn't seem to work as a method.
At the moment, though, exporting using "Trados doc/rtf" only seems to export the entire thing, locked and unlocked segments alike, and as I say, ideally, I'd like to be able to export only the unlocked segments in a Trados-style bilingual document.
Thanks in advance
(I could explain why, but it's complicated. If there's a simple answer to this query, that would suffice. If there isn't, I'm happy to explain what I want to achieve to see if there's another solution, but let's try this first ) ▲ Collapse | | | Yossi Rozenman Германия Local time: 06:03 Member (2006) English to Hebrew + ... Create a view of the unlocked segments, choosing "Only rows that are..." -> "Not locked", and then export it.

Even in memoQ 9, I think you can create a view that only contains the unlocked segments.
Right click your file/selected files, choose "Create view", give the view a name and, in the option "Only rows that are", choose "Not locked". Once you have the view, you can export in whatever way you wish.
I hope this helps! | | |
Thanks to you both - same answer at the same time
That's exactly what I want.
I wonder if perhaps this technique using Views was a vague memory from the past, but I misremembered it as technique using a Filter....
Ah well, not to worry, I'm very grateful in any event.
Thanks again to you both. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Bilingual export excluding locked segments Pastey | Your smart companion app
