I have been turning down jobs that I would have accepted last year because I have a client that pays much more. Less volume, but more money. Right now I need the time because I'm writing a book. | | | Mary Worby Великобритания Local time: 04:27 немецкий => английский + ... Slightly down | Jan 30, 2012 |
But that's largely down to the fact that the Euro has weakened against Sterling. The actual number of Euros earned is broadly similar. | | | neilmac Испания Local time: 05:27 испанский => английский + ...
It's probably about the same as last year, but it's not an issue, as long as I make enough to pay my bills, cope with expenses and stay out of debt. "Lagom är bäst". Out of curiosity, I just had a look, and in terms of invoices issued in January (corresponding to work done in 2011) it is higher than last year. The amount of work actually done in January is about the same for both years, although previous years may have been quiter or busier, but again I really don't recall, since... As January 2011 was close to zero, it could hardly decrease and I am relieved to see that work is coming in quite regularly! | | | wonita (X) Китай Local time: 23:27 Neither do I | Jan 30, 2012 |

I agree with Bin - January was much quieter than December. I only just started freelancing in October so can't comment on last year. Although I'm back up to full capacity now, the first fortnight of January was pretty much full of tumbleweed! | | | Simon Bruni Великобритания Local time: 04:27 Член ProZ.com c 2009 испанский => английский
But not by a significant amount and more due to my own choice than a lack of demand.

January is usually a quiet month... | Jan 30, 2012 |
I can't compare with last year as I had a 3-week vacation in January '11, but January and February are usually quieter months for me... Not this year, though! I've been working over my full capacity in January, especially the last 2 weeks, and it seems February is going to be just the same... | | | Marlene Blanshay Канада Local time: 23:27 Член ProZ.com c 2009 французский => английский + ... about the same | Jan 30, 2012 |
or very slight increase. January is usually quiet, especially the first two weeks. It was the same last year as I recall. Things just picked up in the last half of the month but mostly it was two large jobs, one of which I'm working on now. December, however, was very busy. | | | m_temmer Local time: 21:27 английский => голландский + ... can't really compare | Jan 30, 2012 |
Last year I moved to Costa Rica in January, so I took nearly the whole month off. I only did one job for a client then. This year I didn't work in the first two weeks, but it's very busy. I think it's the busiest January I've ever had, even though it might just be my bad memory | | | inkweaver Германия Local time: 05:27 французский => немецкий + ... Slight increase | Jan 30, 2012 |
January 2011 was excellent, but January this year was even better. Which is a relief, since October and November were very quiet.

January is traditionally slow in my language pair, due to 10 days of legal holidays in Russia. | | | Jenn Mercer США Local time: 23:27 Член ProZ.com c 2009 французский => английский January's turnover deceptive | Jan 30, 2012 |
My turnover for January is higher than last year, but outstanding invoices show that February will be lower. Of course, in Feb last year, I was waiting for a stack of LATE invoices to come in - so who knows? I am keeping busy with good clients, so I am feeling much more positive this year than last. | | | Страниц в теме: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Comparing Jan '12 with Jan '11, has your turnover increased?
