English term or phrase: value coffee
This is a chart which compares volumes of forecasted sales for different types of coffee, such as espresso, filter, *value coffee* and rare coffee.
That´s all the context I have, but I´m inclined to think that by value coffee they imply inexpensive, as opposed to rare, which would be more expensive.
Can´t find meanings or uses of the term *value coffee* as such, and I´m thinking of calling it simply *café regular* as opposed to café excepcional.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Spanish translation:café de gama económica
Explanation:
This would be my suggestion. By "café regular" I understand "standard coffee", and the term "value" does not stand for "standard" in my opinion, but for a more economical option.

No sé si me explico....

Gracias Mercedes. También usé alta gama para el caso de "rare coffees", así que quedó bien claro.

café económico

Explanation:
As you say, I think 'value coffee' refers to the fact that it is inexpensive, something anything can buy in a supermarket. For that in Spanish we would just use 'café económico'.

Might I just add that 'café excepcional' for 'rare coffee' doesn't sound quite right to me... maybe 'café de alta gama' or even 'cafés gourmet' or 'café de (alta) calidad'.
The different types of coffees available are staggering - it is turning into a very popular market and people are willing to pay a lot of money for good quality coffee! (As a coffee lover myself, I can understand why - you can really taste the difference!)

agree  Robert Forstag: This sounds right to me. I would only add that I think the idea goes beyond just “what you can find in a supermarket" (given that expensive coffees can also be found there). Quite simply, the idea is “cheap mass-produced coffee.”

-> yes, you're right - that is the idea. I suppose what you can find in a supermarket depends on where you live ;)
