There are different kinds of possible reactions to these antinomies about which one is more
or less conscious. First, he might be destroyed by them, for example, if he wants to fulfil all
antinomies to the point of paralysis from ever acting (Jaspers 1925: 240). Second, he might
dodge the antimonies, for example, by always neutralizing the other contradictory aspect
of something. Or finally, he might gain power. This last kind of reaction is possible in two
ways: one may ignore one aspect of the antinomies and gain power in spite of existing antinomies
*by awaiting them*; or, one may gain power by the existing antinomies.

This is puzzling at face value, but I suspect that the author was thinking of the German verb "erwarten", which, as well as await, means expect. Perhaps he was thinking of "anticipating" antonomies, in the sense of "seeing them coming": someone might gain power by anticipating antinomies, and thus, by implication, evading them.
But I am not by any means fully confident of having understood what the author is saying.

I must admit that this interpretation is quite close to the idea of "dodging" the antonomies, mentioned just before this.
Perhaps the implicit idea here is the "forewarned is forearmed": one can gain power by expecting or anticipating the existing antinomies, so that one is ready to face and overcome them.

I'm just wondering might an "authentic" response to an antinomy constitute "awaiting" in Jasper's sense?
My only other vague thought is whether "awaiting" might have an eschatological sense?
"Awaiting is an unoriginal, unowned understanding of the future. In an unowned understanding of the future, being-there does not come toward itself in its most unique can-be, but awaits it full of concern as a present that
is not yet now."
Good luck.
