English term

Epic quest

English Bus/Financial Management
Unless your organization is pint-sized or truly exceptional, it probably tilts to the right side of the scale. That’s why you feel beleaguered. You’ve had the bold beaten out of you. “Epic quest,” you snort. “I’m just trying to make the quarter.”

explanation

"you feel beleaguered. You’ve had the bold beaten out of you"
“Epic quest,” >“I’m just trying to make the quarter.”

From this bit of context it seems to mean that at this point in time

all he wants to do is survive this period (the quarter year) rather than trying to do anything extraordinary or be a here

"an epic quest" relates to legendary figures or heroes who go on dangerous and adventruous missions to achoieve something amazing

quel parcours épique !

It sounds like there was a lot to do or to go through to get to this point. This is the expression that would be used, with a sense of sarcasm when said out loud.

neutral Yvonne Gallagher : it's English monolingual. Why offer French to an Iranian?

strive for something involving alot of effort and time

He wants to survive the quarter, rather than make a massive effort, strive for the almost impossible etc.
