I would greatly appreciate an answer to these questions for the pupose of research for the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne (Australia) French class in which I am a student. This is a wonderful service.
Does Le Chat Noir still exist in Paris? If not, when was it closed? Is the building still in place and what is its purpose now? If the building is no lnger there, when was it demolished>
Best regards
Gaby from Melbourne

Le Chat Noir
Rodolphe Salis' Le Chat Noir doesn't exist anymore. It started in 1881 and closed in 1897. See http://www.musee-orsay.fr/ORSAY/orsayNews/Program.nsf/0/640c...
But the building still exist at the following adress: 68, bd de Clichy
75018 Paris
There's a "hoodoo" bar in it, called Le Chat Noir, but very different from the original one. http://www.parissi.com/ultrag/pigalle/lechatnoir.htm
