Un produs are preţ de achiziţie (price at purchase) şi un preţ estimat (sau realizat) prin exploatare. Acesta rezultă din "life cycle costs", legate de exploatarea produsului (consumuri de energie, întreţinere, reparaţii, recliclare etc.).
