Relatively strong winds that are concentrated in a narrow band in the atmosphere. Jet Streams are usually thousands of kilometers long, hundreds of kilometers wide but only a few kilometers thick. They are usually found between 6 and 10 miles above the surface.

"Curent aerian de mare altitudine, extrem de<br />rapid şi deosebit de periculos pentru navigaţia aeriană.<br />Curentele-jet se produc între 6-13 km, au formă tubulară,<br />secţiune ovală, lăţime de până la 500 km şi grosime de<br />până la 7 km şi viteze de 100-400 km/h care cresc<br />dinspre exterior spre interior. Locul lor se schimbă zilnic<br />şi în funcţie de anotimp.
