The valves 114 include several hydraulic fluid pathways that may be selectively interconnected by activation of the spool 118, including an open center core 130, a power core 138, and a tank galley 132. The fixed displacement pump 116 pumps hydraulic fluid (at a constant flow rate for a given engine speed) from the hydraulic fluid tank 112 into the open center core 130. The tank galley 132 returns hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic fluid tank 112, where it is available to be re-pumped.
