almost all my family Mar 26, 2010

My girlfriend has a job, so we put our money together and we use it. But I earn more than her, so I usually use the money as soon as get it for everything about bills, school for my children, car payment....

I earn OK out of translation, but my husband earns slightly more. So we'll call it 50/50!

I earn almost twice as much as my partner (firemen are never going to be high earners, however necessary they are to society) and we contribute to the household budget accordingly... plus he's not the father of my son, so I don't expect him to provide that type of support - he does that in other ways than financially.

I support myself and my 11 year old triplets. I am separated from their father and he doesn't give us any money.

I voted 50/50 Mar 26, 2010

although I actually earn considerably more than my husband now. However, we both have full-time jobs and contribute to running the house. He pays the mortgage and household bills, I pay for food, holidays, children's activities, etc. Like Clare, he is not my daughter's father, so I pay for everything she needs.

About 30 per cent... Mar 26, 2010

comes from translations/ interpretation these days. For the past two years, I work for a hospital part-time (an administrative job), that definitely strengthens my translator skills in medical area:-)

Used to be the breadwinner, contribute partially now. Mar 26, 2010

As a single mother of one I used to be the only breadwinner for the two of us. I was in a full-time job until my daughter turned 3.5 years old. I had no longer a nanny by then, and working beyond 40 hours a week on a 40 hours pay became too much a strain. I went freelance and asked my daughter’s father to start paying maintenance. We now make equal or so contributions.

Major contribution, less than 50% Mar 26, 2010

We "live on" my husband's earnings--groceries, mortgage, utilities, gasoline, etc. My earnings pay for my clothes, travel (to visit family), and a few extras. More important, my earnings are gradually getting us out of debt.

Since my wife started working again a few years ago.
I'd rather work part-time or not at all, actually, but customers won't let me.
