Don't try it!)

David lost in a New Hampshire creek.

Oct 26, 2007

David,

Impressive indeed. Obviously very well planned.

I searched for a bird's eye view image of the 183 and Mopac intersection overpass ramps crisscrossing each other for comparison, but couldn't find one. It looks so messy the news people call it the spaghetti bowl

Highway Infrastructure Oct 27, 2007

Yueyin,

Thanks a lot for the links.

http://www.texasfreeway.com/Austin/photos/183/images/Mopac183stack1.jpg

This photo is the Mopac and 183 interchange I was looking for. Too bad it wasn't taken from the sky though. Convoluted as this stack might be, it definitely gets the job done. I would say a lot of my driving is done in this vicinity.

Of course this is nothing compared to some of the bigger city highway infrastructure considered to be major transportation hubs. After all these years, the reach and sophistication of the highway system in this country still boggle my mind.

Speaking of the Olympics, how do you guys like this architectural design?

I just noticed it in Yueyin's link about Beijing's highway interchanges.
